My Epiphany

I grew up in a conservative evangelical home. Certain concepts were taught to me, but I always suspected that those who taught them were unaware of their true meaning. Nothing ever seemed to click. As I aged, I began hearing of other schools of thought. I poured myself into Alan Watts' lectures on Taoism, Hinduism, Zen and other schools of Buddhism. In addition, I began reading alternative early Christian literature, such as the Gospel of Thomas. One day, when I had returned home from work, I was hesitating to exit my car; instead sitting in the driveway, mulling over some thoughts I was having. Suddenly, without forethought or intent, I uttered, "Abandon every assumption." This is the exposition of that thought.
